French & Italian Alumni Reunion '06
"The Department of French and Italian held its First Annual Alumni Reunion on Saturday, May 6, 2007. Thanks to the collaboration of Chair Daniel Brewer, Professor Christophe Wall-Romana, Development Officer Lynn Argetsinger, Communications Manager Kelly O'Brien, and a tireless Alumni Committee, the successful event attracted 75 alumni representing over 50 years of department history. With refreshments provided by Hotel Sofitel-Minneapolis, Byerly's catering arm Simple to Grand, and support from I Nonni, guests enjoyed breakfast pastries and a lunch buffet while catching up with old friends and professors and learning more about the activities of the Department. The event also featured the total number of courses eight mini-courses taught by current faculty:

- "Jews in Modern France" (Bruno Chaouat)
- "Unsolved Crimes: Detecting Fictions from the Francophone World" (Judith Preckshot)
- "Harry Potter's French Connections" (Alan Smith)
- "'We'll Always Have Paris…': The Idea of Paris" (Daniel Brewer)
- "Modern Quebec: Pluralism and Multiculturalism" (Eileen Sivert)
- "Imagining Italy: Italian and Italian American Culture Through Film (Susanna Ferlito)
- "French, Cajun, and Creole New Orleans" (Christophe Wall-Romana)
The highlight of the day was honoring esteemed professor Armand Renaud and his many contributions to the department.
